Dear chien,
Slick Sherry Boehlert is lying to you about me. He thinks you can be fooled, misled, and deceived. Join me at the polls this Tuesday and let him know what you think about his lies, his liberal voting record and his negativity.
In recent weeks my opponent has filled airways and mailboxes with communications claiming that I don?t pay my taxes and voted for an 18% tax increase as a county legislator.
THAT IS A LIE, and he knows it.
I PAY MY TAXES... all of them! And I never voted to enact a budget that raised taxes by 18 percent. I voted to bring the tentative budget to the floor of the legislature for discussion and revision. When it came up for final approval, I VOTED AGAINST THE 18 PERCENT TAX INCREASE.
The truth is, Sherwood Boehlert has nearly a quarter-century record of being one of the most liberal, tax-and-spend Republicans in Congress. Here are the facts:
- The bipartisan National Taxpayers Union placed Boehlert third on its list of worst Republicans on votes relating to taxing and spending. The ratings were based on every roll call vote affecting fiscal policy in 2003. (Human Events, April 12, 2004)
- The American Conservative Union placed Boehlert first on its 2003 list as the Most Liberal Republican in the US House of Representatives naming him to its. RINO list... Republicans In Name Only. (American Conservative Union ? see ratings)
- While conservative Republicans in Congress have been effective in helping their districts, even with nearly a quarter-century of seniority, Boehlert is less and less effective in bringing federal dollars back home. With Republicans in control of both Houses, ?Republican Sherwood Boehlert?s Utica-area district fell the farthest upstate, falling 39 slots to 326th of all congressional districts nationwide.?
